Switch Your Drugstore Razor for a Quality Safety Razor

We hate to break it to you, but you’ve been hoodwinked. Just like everybody else we used to think that the only options for shaving lies within the brightly colored razors you find in the drugstore. Granted these guys do look great in commercials with their eye-catching designs and neon stripes, but don’t let that fool you. What about electric razors then you say? Well on top of being expensive, electric razors can pull and tug the skin, causing irritation. On top of that it's almost always going to give you a sub par shave in terms of closeness. Last but not least, do not get us started for the sorry excuse of a “shaving cream” that comes in a can. These are actually more harmful to the skin than helpful and should be avoided entirely. Instead try real shaving creams that contain ingredients that are actually good for your skin.

There are so many things wrong with the mass produced shaving products that we don’t know where to begin, but here is an attempt to list all the reasons why shaving with a double edged safety razor is the right move.

#1  It’s An Overall Better Shave

Many of the issues that men have with shaving can honestly be reduced greatly by switching to double edged safety razors. Problems like irritation, razor burn, ingrown hairs can be virtually eliminated. The weight of the razor as well, ensures a close and even shave. Letting the heaviness do the work instead of applying too much pressure will lessen the chances of nicks and cuts. A variety of safety can be found here for your perusal.

In terms of shaving cream ,it is true what we said about the canned stuff being horrible for your skin. Although aerosol shaving cream is marketed as a hydrating product, it actually is not. Most spray on shaving creams contain artificial lubricants that actually dry out your skin over time. Combat this by using products such as Royal Shave Premium Shaving Cream, which makes a thicker more protective layer and actually contains good for you hydrating ingredients. It’ll leave your skin feeling moisturized and nourished. ‘

#2 It Is More Cost Efficient

The trick to a smooth shave is to have sharp blade, which means that you have to be on top of replacing it in a timely manner. Double edged safety razors should be replaced every 3-5 shaves, but even with that in mind it is still more cost effective than your typical drugstore razor. Instead of replacing the entire razor, you would only need to replace the blade. In the long term, this choice can save you hundreds of dollars. It is way more cost efficient than even using an electric shaver.

#3 It’s More Sustainable for the Environment

This reason is self explanatory. A safety razor is typically made out of carbon or stainless steel metal. These materials are designed to last for years. As long as they are well taken care of and the blades are replaced, it is a much more sustainable option than constantly buying plastic razors. The materials are easily recyclable as well.

#4 They Look Freaking Cool

Last but not least, safety razors just look freaking cool. The sleek metal design brings an edge (haha) to any bathroom. It is much more aesthetically pleasing than your dayglo drugstore razor. Holding the heavy device in your hand is sure to make you feel like a bad*ss. But hey, see for yourself what all the hype is about and indulge in the luxurious experience of a traditional shaving experience.
