Balance and weight of razor is very good.
However, the chrome finish on the handle at the top of the knurling on one of the facets was sub-par (there was some "pooling" of the finish). Also, on the intermediary piece (between the handle and main head) there was some "pooling" of the finish (where the handle passes through), such that the handle would not set perfectly flush.
This is not Royal Shave's fault, but a quality control issue with Merkur. Was really quite surprised to see such flaws from the much-vaunted German manufacturing.
Granted, the flaw on the handle is more cosmetic and not functional. Regarding the other flaw, I used the blunt tip of a screw driver to scrape away the excess finish, so that the handle would set perfectly flush. I considered returning the razor, but really didn't want to deal with the hassle. If not the for the chrome finish flaws, I would have given 4 stars.
The razor itself is rather nice. I like the fact that the handle is faceted and not rounded, because when the razor is disassembled, the handle will stay in place and not roll away. Also aesthetically the razor has an interesting and masculine look.
I agree with some that the razor can be a bit slippery, especially since the razor is heavy. Just keep your hands dry, or at least not too wet.
